Phenylethylamine (PEA): addressing brain fog and lack of motivation

Phenylethylamine, commonly found in many current nootropic supplements, is
taken to combat brain fog and overcome a lack of motivation. Also called Β-phenylethylamine, it is considered a trace amine and an important molecule in the brain (Examine).

How it works:

Phenylethylamine acts as a central nervous system stimulant and plays an important role in helping the body create certain chemicals involved in mood stabilization. It works chemically in a similar manner to the amphetamine drug Adderall.

What it can do:

  • Phenylethylamine functions like some mood-enhancing neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine, while also boosting their effects.
  • Recent research shows that it has the potential to defend against depression, poor attention span, and weight gain, especially when used in conjunction with other lifestyle changes and treatments.
