Brain Pill Reviews: Leading Edge Health vs. MyPEAK Supplements:

Both BrainPill by Leading Edge Health and Brilliance by MyPEAK Supplements are proprietary versions of a nootropic brain pill, and both are rated by consumers as highly effective. In this article, we provide a head-to-head comparison of these versions of the brain pill so that you can make a more informed purchase decision when it comes time to optimize your mind.

Who doesn’t want a better brain? Whatever we use it for – solving complex equations, writing engrossing novels, or working out the kids’ after-school schedules – we achieve more with a healthier brain.  The ability to stay focused and alert is a major advantage in life. This goes a long way towards explaining the popularity of nootropic supplements (sometimes called “brain pills”) that promise to lift our brain fog and unclog our neural networks so we can think more clearly and be more productive.

Nootropic supplements increase such mental functions as attention, creativity, memory and motivation. They accomplish this by chemically improving brain pathways, and the results are a healthier brain and enhanced neural activity. Brain pill reviews show that over-the-counter nootropic supplements are also called “brain boosters,” “memory-enhancing drugs,” and “smart drugs.”

Some contain synthetic compounds, but many are composed of natural ingredients that have been shown to improve overall brain health. The brain accounts for only 3 percent of the body’s weight.  Still, it receives 15 percent of the body’s blood supply and oxygen, and many nootropics work to improve blood flow and the delivery of essential nutrients to the brain.

Lots of products, lots of choices…

The popularity of nootropics began to grow in the 1970s, and brain pills have now become the foundation of a multi-billion-dollar worldwide industry. Hundreds of products that contain various formulations of thousands of ingredients are available through a simple Internet search, and many brain pill reviews tout the advantages claimed by one manufacturer after another. Sifting through all of this material can be a daunting task, and sometimes it seems that brain pills are needed just to maintain the focus necessary to select brain pills.

Two popular over-the-counter products that offer both value and quality are BrainPill by Leading Edge Health and Brilliance by MyPeak Supplements. Each company touts its product as a natural approach to improving brain health, and its formulas contain many ingredients that are believed to do just that. But which one is the better product? That’s the question that we’ll attempt to answer with these brain pill reviews.

Shaking off the caffeine rush

One approach that both BrainPill and Brilliance share is the avoidance of caffeine, which is often used in nootropic supplements meant to give the brain a quick jolt. By avoiding caffeine, these two products appeal to people who suffer undesirable side effects from that ingredient. Also, since many people already get daily doses of caffeine through beverages such as coffee and tea, they don’t need additional amounts of this stimulant on a regular basis.

Comparing the lists of ingredients

Both of these supplements also market themselves as all-natural products, appealing to consumers looking to avoid synthetic ingredients that sometimes bring more trouble than benefits to the table.  Let’s take a closer look at their ingredient lists.

Both BrainPill and Brilliance contain citicoline, a common ingredient in many top nootropic supplements. Citicoline is a naturally occurring substance that gets turned into several important neurotransmitters in the brain. In particular, it increases the production of acetylcholine for a neuroprotective effect, which may also improve some cognitive functions and mental clarity. Both BrainPill and Brilliance contain 250 milligrams of citicoline in the form of a trademarked product called Cognizin.

The first difference in the formulation of these two products comes in the form of another common nootropic supplement, Ginkgo biloba.  Based on a traditional remedy, it has become a standard ingredient in nootropics for memory improvement, and Ginkgo has been shown to improve memory and mental processing in healthy older adults when taken daily for six weeks.

Taking Ginkgo biloba before a highly stressful task also reduces stress-related high blood pressure as it decreases cortisol levels. One possible explanation for these benefits is increased blood flow to the brain after supplementing with Ginkgo biloba. While BrainPill provides its users with 100 milligrams of Ginkgo biloba in its daily dosage, Brilliance goes 20 percent further with 120 milligrams in its daily pill.

Another difference between BrainPill and Brilliance is the daily dosage of Huperzine A.  This helpful ingredient acts as a cholinesterase inhibitor in that it prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter essential to learning and memory). Huperzine A is also said to enhance learning and memory and protect against age-related cognitive decline.

In addition, it is sometimes used to boost energy, increase alertness, fight depression, and aid in the treatment of myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disorder that affects the muscles. BrainPill gives consumers a larger dose of this chemical in its daily dosage – 5 milligrams, as opposed to 5 micrograms in Brilliance.

In these brain pill reviews, Brilliance gives more vitamin bang for the buck

The biggest difference between BrainPill and Brilliance is seen in the number and dosages of  vitamin B complex in each supplement. Solid brain pill reviews need to consider the benefits of these water-soluble vitamins, as B vitamins are known to play important roles in cell metabolism and the manufacture of red blood cells.

BrainPill features three essential vitamins from this category, but with two of them – Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 – it offers lower dosages than does Brilliance. Furthermore, BrainPill does not list either Vitamin B1 or B3 on its ingredients roster.  Vitamin B1(Thiamine) helps maintain optimal levels of the neurotransmitters glutamate and gamma–aminobutyric acid (GABA), and this brain-boosting vitamin is often used to combat brain fog and increase motivation.

Vitamin B1 has been shown to increase attention and energy, improve mental clarity and reduce anxiety. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) boosts the production of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels in the brain, increasing cerebral blood flow. Niacin also affects cognitive function by stimulating the production of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.  These neurotransmitters are involved in memory, learning, cognition, recall, and mood.  Because it leaves out vitamins B1 and B3, BrainPill misses out on many potential brain-enhancing benefits, and in this category, Brilliance is the clear winner.

Brilliance offers more vitamins for less money

When it comes to cost, the bottom line is that Brilliance offers a slightly cheaper alternative to BrainPill. To compare the two head-by-head, consumers need to consider that a daily dose of Brilliance is one pill, while the makers of BrainPill recommend two pills per day. Therefore, a one-month supply of Brilliance is 30 pills instead of the 60 per bottle of BrainPill. When all of the sales and discounts are factored in, a one-month supply of Brilliance costs $35.15 per month, while a one-month supply of BrainPill is $39.98.

Putting it all together

Considering the superior ingredients in Brilliance by MyPEAK, in addition to its lower cost, this supplement wins the edge over BrainPill by Leading Edge Health.  When shopping for nootropic supplements, be sure to evaluate each one by factors like potency, ingredients, cost, and overall value for your money.  We could all use an extra cognitive boost and a productivity edge, and the right nootropic supplement could be key to your success.
