Sunmed CBD vs. Partnered Process CBD: Finding the Best CBD for Sleep

As more and more individuals turn to CBD to help resolve their sleep issues, the market offers a wide array of CBD sleep products.  We’ll compare two leading brands: Sunmed CBD and Partnered Process CBD, so that you can make an informed purchase decision.

Clinical studies have shown that CBD has a calming effect that minimizes anxiety and promotes a good night’s sleep. CBD activates the adenosine receptor in the body’s endocannabinoid system which prevents the stress response from triggering the brain. Researchers believe that by helping to reduce or shut off the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) stress response, CBD  may encourage an individual to fall asleep faster and sleep deeper.

CBD is derived from hemp and is low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), otherwise known as the psychoactive component in marijuana. Recent clinical studies published by the National Institutes of Health concluded that subjects offered CBD in a test group reported sleeping significantly more than the group offered a placebo.

CBD products differ greatly from one another and are best consumed orally for purposes of sleep enhancement. Ingredient transparency as well as transparency concerning actual THC and CBD content are integral when assessing the quality of a superior CBD product. We’ll compare two popular brands to determine which offers the better CBD sleep aid: Sunmed CBD vs Partnered Process CBD.

Sunmed CBD vs. Partnered Process CBD:

Sourcing and ingredient transparency

Partnered Process offers consumers full-spectrum hemp CBD that is locally sourced from Wisconsin farmers. Their products are non-GMO and labeled with individual QR codes that display where the hemp used in the product was harvested and all 3rd-party lab results. The QR code breaks down critical information for consumers and can even identify the specific farm that produced the CBD. All of Partnered Process’ products are free of pesticides, fungus, solvents, and chemical residue.

Sunmed CBD claims to develop its products from high-quality sources that remain unnamed. The brand indicates their hemp extracts are sourced from the “highest quality” options available “on the market,” but they fall short of divulging specific details to consumers. Sunmed CBD is purportedly organically farmed in the USA, but the company doesn’t identify the actual source or location.

Both companies use a third-party lab to confirm the purity and potency of their hemp extracts. Partnered Process uses natural, often certified-organic ingredients derived from a family farm that is named and identified as Turtle Creek Gardens in Delavan, WI. The local farm harvests all the hemp used by the brand. They believe in complete transparency and offer easily accessible information concerning all aspects of their CBD production.

In comparison, most Sunmed CBD products pass through third-party lab testing and log non-detectable THC. The company admits to its “proprietary extraction process,” and indicates its use of terpenes and an “array” of minor cannabinoids, suggesting its products are overly-manufactured and include less natural elements.

Sunmed CBD vs. Partnered Process CBD:

True CBD content

The experts at Medical News Today acknowledge that short-term, high doses of CBD may encourage a more optimal sleep experience for most consumers. However, The Mayo Clinic reports that CBD content isn’t always reliably displayed. Their results showed that more than a quarter of the products advertised online contained less CBD than the product labels suggested.

Clinical researchers found that 25 mg was an effective dose to curb mild anxiety, but to promote better sleep a different dosage was required. Sleep experts suggest consuming 1-6 mg of CBD for every 100 lbs of body weight to optimize sleep. Me Fuimaono-Poe, MSN, FNP, and the medical director for the Malie Cannabis Clinic, recommends “starting with 25 milligrams and increasing as needed.” However, more research is needed to determine a reliable method for CBD dosing.

The packaging for Sunmed CBD Full Spectrum Nighttime Vegan Gummies recommends a dosage of one gummy each night but fails to identify the CBD content. The total cannabinoid per serving is listed as 25 mg, but Sunmed does not identify or quantify the cannabinoids present in each gummy. The only option to confirm the actual CBD content in Sunmed CBD products is to locate the laboratory results. Harvard Health Publishing states this can be challenging and

time-consuming for consumers and increases the risk of incorrect dosage.

Sunmed CBD Full Spectrum Nighttime Tincture Blueberry states that it includes valerian root and lavender essential oils, but doesn’t detail its remaining ingredients. The brand’s website indicates they created a “proprietary formula” that is “rich in cannabinoids” but does not display the full ingredient list or the actual CBD content.

Partnered Reserve’s Sleep Tincture comes in a 30 ml bottle that packs in 66 mg of CBD. The ingredient list also includes 2 mg of melatonin and 10 mg CBN to aid in anxiety relief and optimize sleep. The CBD content is prominently visible on the bottle itself and is also easy to access on the brand’s website.

Partnered Process CBD also offers gummies in packs of 30. Each gummy contains 25 mg of CBD and 5mg of CBN, among other simple ingredients that are clearly listed.

Sunmed CBD vs. Partnered Process CBD:

Selecting a brand

In a head-to-head comparison, Partnered Process CBD offers greater ingredient transparency and quality control than Sunmed CBD. Each strain and extract can be effortlessly traced by the average consumer and third-party laboratory results for each product are easily accessible. The simple ingredient lists we examined suggest that Partnered Process CBD is the cleaner, more natural option. The CBD content of each product is clearly displayed and the brand’s informative approach sets them apart as the more trustworthy source.
